All of my work is free-form; no jigs or patterns are used. I shape each piece individually, by hand. Every work is a new and original design. Currently, candleholders and vases are my main focus but I can't resist occasional sculptures, small furniture pieces and wall works. I prefer clear wood finishes; stains or fillers can obscure natural colors and intricate grain details. My wood choices cross a wide spectrum. I use many Southern California locals (e.g. avocado, eucalyptus, acacia) but enjoy tropicals as well. I fit candlestick sockets and vase cavities with copper sleeves (my vases hold water safely) and, as appropriate, pieces are invisibly base-weighted for stability.
